Choose your private Golden Triangle tour
The closest match to a private four-day tour to Agra and Jaipur from Delhi sits in the centre.
Beside it: the best-value version with the Taj at sunrise, and the one that pays your monument tickets.
The lowest from-price of the four-day tours: private car, local guides, the Taj at sunrise and a tuk-tuk in Old Delhi. Add 3, 4 or 5 star hotels with breakfast.
What's included
Private air-conditioned car with chauffeur, tolls, parking and fuel
Government-approved local guides in Delhi, Agra and Jaipur
Tuk-tuk ride in Old Delhi and the battery van to the Taj Mahal gate
3 nights with breakfast if you choose a hotel option
Four days from Delhi with your own car and driver, a local guide in each city and Fatehpur Sikri on the way to Jaipur. Hotels are an option; entry fees are extra.
What's included
Private air-conditioned car for 4 days: sedan for 1-2, SUV for 3-4, van for 5-10
Private local guide for all sightseeing in Delhi, Agra and Jaipur
3 nights with breakfast if you book the option with hotels
Pickup from Delhi, Gurugram or Noida hotels, the airport or a station
Not included: monument entrance fees, lunch, dinner, drinks and tips
The from-prices look far apart, but they are not like for like. What changes the real cost is
whether monument tickets and hotels are in the price, and how many of you share the car.

Fatehpur Sikri on the way and a guide in each city
Prices are per person at the cheapest tier: the per-person price falls as your group
grows, and hotels are an upgrade on most tours. Children get discounted rates on most listings. At the time of
writing the 3-day tour was on sale from $100 and the sunrise day trip from $96. Every tour cancels free up to 24
hours ahead except the 4 Days Golden Triangle with Breakfasts, which needs 3 days.
What you actually get
"Private" means your own car: the rest is in the fine print.
On every tour here the car, the driver and the guides are for your party alone. You are picked up at
your Delhi hotel or the airport, driven to Agra, on to Jaipur and back, and met by a local guide in each
city who walks the monuments with you. You set the pace, stop when you like and skip what bores you.
What "private" does not settle is the rest of the bill. The headline price is usually the car and guides
only: hotels are an upgrade, and on most tours monument tickets are paid on the day. For a
foreign adult the Taj Mahal alone costs Rs 1,300 with the mausoleum, and the whole loop comes to roughly
Rs 5,000 to 6,000 in tickets. Lunch, dinner and tips are extra everywhere.
Friday
The Taj Mahal is closed every Friday. Make sure the
Agra day of your tour falls on any other day of the week.

03
How much driving?
About 13 to 15 hours over four days, on good expressways, in an air-conditioned car.
04
Who might skip it?
Anyone who hates long drives. The sunrise day trip shows you the Taj in one day.

From-prices are per person at the cheapest tier. The price per person drops as more of you share the car, so a couple pays more each than a family of four.
Most tours sell a car-and-guides option and options with 3, 4 or 5 star hotels and breakfast for three nights.
Hotels named on the listings include Golden Tulip, Marriott and Jaypee Palace in Agra, and 7 Apple, The Fern and DoubleTree in Jaipur, "or equivalent".

This was a fabulous tour. Vikram in Agra and Raj in Jaipur were terrific, they looked after me and took lots of photos. They gave me the right amount of information without sounding like a history lesson.

Brajesh and Vigay were both absolute stars. Vigay accommodated all my needs, driving me around and adjusting my schedules when needed. Brajesh was an excellent guide for Jaipur, deeply knowledgeable about the Amber Fort, water palace and City Palace.

Harsh was a very knowledgeable tour guide and has a good grasp of history. He also took us to a spice shop in Old Delhi which we appreciated. He shared some of his personal interests, which made for engaging conversations throughout our trip.

Private Sunrise Taj Mahal Trip from Delhi
★ 4.9 · 1,580 reviews · 12 hours
If you cannot spare four days, this is the one-day version: a private car leaves Delhi before dawn, a guide meets you in Agra for the Taj Mahal at sunrise and Agra Fort, and you are back in Delhi the same evening. Monument tickets and lunch can be included when you choose that option.
The Golden Triangle is north India's classic first trip: Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, joined by
three long drives. A private four-day tour is the easiest way to do it. Here is what you are paying for, what
it really costs once you are there, and how to get the most out of the four days.
What the Golden Triangle is
The name describes the map: Delhi, the Taj Mahal city of Agra and the Rajput capital of Jaipur sit roughly
230 to 270 km apart, linked by fast expressways. Along the loop you pass nine UNESCO World Heritage Sites,
from Qutub Minar and Humayun's Tomb in Delhi to the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri, and Jantar Mantar
and Amber Fort around Jaipur. That density is why the route is so popular, and why it is easy to spend the
whole trip in the car if you try to do it in two days.
Between the cities you ride on good expressways in your own air-conditioned car.
What "private" buys, and what it doesn't
On a private tour the car, the driver and the guides are yours alone. The driver stays with you for all four
days; in each city a local guide joins for the sightseeing. You choose how long to spend at each monument and
when to stop for lunch. What is not always in the price: the hotels, which most listings sell as an
upgrade, and the monument tickets, which foreign visitors pay at a much higher rate than Indians. The
Taj Mahal is Rs 1,100 plus Rs 200 for the mausoleum, Agra Fort Rs 650, Fatehpur Sikri Rs 610. Add Delhi and
Jaipur and a foreign adult spends roughly Rs 5,000 to 6,000, about $60 to $70, on tickets.
The honest small print: the from-price on each listing is per person at the cheapest
tier, usually a larger group without hotels. Two travellers with 4 star hotels will pay a good deal more per
head. Price your exact group and option at checkout before you compare tours, and check whether the tickets
are included.
The Taj Mahal: sunrise, and never on a Friday
The Taj Mahal closes every Friday, which catches out more travellers than anything else on this route.
A four-day tour normally sleeps in Agra on the first night so you can be at the gate as it opens, 30 minutes
before sunrise, when the marble turns pink and the crowds are thinnest. Agra Fort and the Baby Taj follow after
breakfast. In December and January fog can hide the dome at dawn, so a flexible guide may suggest a later visit.
At sunrise the marble glows pink and the platform is at its quietest.
Getting the most from the four days
Tell your operator what matters most before the trip: extra time in Old Delhi, a skipped shop, a stop at the
Chand Baori step well. Keep the Jaipur day unhurried; Amber Fort alone deserves two hours. Carry small rupee
notes for tips, which are expected for the driver and each guide, and say no to shops if you are not buying.
Most of all, check the day your tour reaches Agra, and book early for the October to March season.
Amber Fort's painted gateways are the highlight of the Jaipur day.
Straight answers to what travelers ask most about private Golden Triangle tours.
How much does a private 4-day Golden Triangle tour cost?
On Viator the private four-day tours start from $99 to $175 per person in 2026. That from-price is the cheapest tier: the price per person drops as your group grows, and the base option is usually the car, driver and guides without hotels. Adding 3, 4 or 5 star hotels raises it, and monument tickets are extra on most tours. See the price guide.
Are hotels included in a Golden Triangle tour?
Only if you choose that option. Most listings sell a car-and-guide version and a version with three nights and breakfast in 3, 4 or 5 star hotels (for example Golden Tulip, Marriott or Jaypee Palace in Agra). The "all inclusive" tour with fees paid does not include accommodation. Check the option you pick at checkout.
Are monument entrance fees included?
Usually not. Four of the tours here exclude them. For a foreign adult the Taj Mahal alone is Rs 1,100 plus Rs 200 for the main mausoleum, Agra Fort Rs 650 and Fatehpur Sikri Rs 610, so budget roughly Rs 5,000 to 6,000 (about $60 to $70) for the whole loop. The Driver India tour and the 3-day India Caravan tour include them.
Is the Taj Mahal open on Fridays?
No. The Taj Mahal is closed every Friday (the mosque inside is used for prayers), so the Agra day of your tour must not fall on a Friday. Good operators shuffle the itinerary for you, but check it before you pay. Read Taj Mahal sunrise and the Friday rule.
How many days do you need for the Golden Triangle?
Four days is the sweet spot for a private tour: one day each for Delhi and Agra, a full day in Jaipur and the drive back. Three days works but leaves little time in Delhi and puts you in the car most afternoons. Compare them in 3 or 4 days.
How far apart are Delhi, Agra and Jaipur?
Delhi to Agra is about 233 km (3.5 to 4.5 hours on the Yamuna Expressway), Agra to Jaipur about 238 km (4.5 to 5.5 hours) and Jaipur back to Delhi about 268 km (5 to 6 hours). Over four days that is roughly 13 to 15 hours on the road, which is why a comfortable private car matters.
What is the best time of year for the Golden Triangle?
October to March, when days are dry and mild. December and January mornings can be foggy around Agra, which can hide the Taj at sunrise, so keep a later visit as a backup. April to June is very hot, and July to September brings the monsoon.
Can you see the Taj Mahal at sunrise on a 4-day tour?
Yes. Most four-day tours sleep in Agra on night one and visit the Taj at sunrise on day two, before driving to Jaipur. The gates open 30 minutes before sunrise. The Keeper Landwey and Driver India tours build the sunrise into the itinerary.
Should I tip the driver and guides?
Tips are not included on any of the tours here and are expected in India. Many travellers tip the driver at the end of the trip and each city guide at the end of their day. Carry some small rupee notes for this and for shoe-minders and toilets.
Will the tour take me to shops?
Often, yes: marble inlay workshops in Agra and textile or gem showrooms in Jaipur are common stops. Guests report there is no obligation to buy, and you can simply ask your guide to skip them. Say so on day one.
Which car will we get?
It depends on your group size. The Hello India listing, for example, uses a sedan for 1 to 2 travellers, a 6-seater SUV for 3 to 4 and a 10-seater van for 5 to 10. With three adults and luggage, ask for an SUV: a guest on a day trip complained about a small car for eight hours.
Can I cancel a Golden Triangle tour?
Yes. Every tour on this page cancels for a full refund up to 24 hours before the start, except the Creative India Holidays tour, which needs 3 days notice.
